Entry No. 001 — Soul to Salt

Maybe we've misunderstood what it means to have salt among ourselves.

Maybe it isn't about being stronger.

Or tougher.

Or louder.

Maybe it's something much quieter than that.

I think we're all born with an understanding of right and wrong.

We know kindness feels different than cruelty.

Honesty feels different than deception.

Generosity feels different than selfishness.

Then life gets louder.

It tells us to hurry.

To fit in.

To look the other way.

Little by little, we forget who we are.

But every ordinary day asks the same question.

Who are you going to be?

You keep your word.

You refill the coffee pot after pouring the last cup.

You leave a little firewood behind for the next family.

You thank the veteran as you pass by.

You wipe down the equipment before you leave the gym.

Not because someone is watching.

Not because someone might thank you.

Because that's who you are.

Character is revealed in ordinary moments.

One decision at a time.

Until one day...

doing the right thing no longer feels like a choice.

It simply feels like being yourself.

Maybe that's what it means to have salt among yourselves.
